Team Maine Racing November Newsletter |
|
Hello Friends and Supporters of Team Maine Racing, We have a lot to cover in the first official newsletter of the 2009-2010 season. We would first like to welcome Mike Perrino and Peter Ouellette to the team. They will be racing as Team #44 for the 2010 race. Andrew and David Milley are unable to race this year, but will still be providing us with as much support as they can. Mike, who was a member of the support crew last year along with Peter, will be an asset to Team Maine Racing and represent #44 very well. Mike and Peter are both accomplished backcountry riders. As a first year team they will be strong competitors. We would also like to welcome back Dave Hammond who ran support in 2008 he will also be running support for us this year. Team Maine was represented at the 3 major snowmobile events so far this fall and attendance was strong. First was the MSA show in Augusta, it was a rainy weekend and had a very good turnout Friday night, Saturday and Sunday! I believe we had the only 2010 X-package sled there and it drew some attention. Rob's race sled was there as well outfitted just as it was when it crossed the finish line last year. People were excited to see a race sled setup as we race them, lots of questions. Mainely Motorsports interviewed Rich and aired the segment a few times on local cable. Columbus Day weekend we traveled to Fremont NH and had a booth for the weekend at the grass drag and water cross event. Again Rob’s race sled was on display as was the race trailer. Lots of traffic for the weekend as the weather was great. We were setup right across from the RaveX freestyle show which put on quite an event. While there we were fortunate to meet and spend some time with Dane Ferguson from Alaska, X-Games gold medalist. What a super nice guy! We were also witness to the devastating accident of Darryl Tate, a new friend of Team Maine who flew out from the Yukon to ride in the freestyle show for Rave X. On Sunday, Darryl came up short on a back flip and crashed very hard, severing his spinal cord, puncturing a lung and breaking his femur. Darryl is back home recovering but will not walk again. Our thoughts and prayers are with "D-rail" and his family. The third show was in Casco at the grass drags and although the crowd was a little smaller, a lot of familiar faces stopped by to say hi. The new race sleds are in at the dealer and build-ups will start very soon. We were very happy with last year’s setup so aside from a few changes, this year’s sleds will be very similar to the 2009 sleds. Registration has opened and 6 teams have registered at this point. We hear one of the teams that have registered is from Europe, proving that this race has an international audience. It will be exciting to race against these new teams and interesting to see different race setups and strategy. We at this point are not registered, but will once funding is in place. We are currently working hard to secure the needed sponsorships to go to Labrador this year and compete. We are very fortunate to have Coutts Bros. back on board this year; Denis, Erin, Dylan and there crew go out of their way to help us, thanks guys! We also have the following returning sponsors, Ross Mauri, Allen Agency, Bob Lavallee, Hammond Tractor, Dave & Amy Hammond and Dysart's are also back this year and have been avid supporters of Team Maine from day one. A few new sponsors for this year so far are Steve’s Snacks, Desco Seamless Gutters and The Chesuncook Lake House, they are all excited to be supporting us and we are excited to have them on board. If you or someone you know would like to get involved with Team Maine Racing, please let us know and we will forward information along to them. You can follow us on our webpage as well as on the forum page that is linked to our website. You can also follow us on Facebook. We will be updating and posting pictures in both areas when available throughout the season. Until next month, wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, be safe and enjoy the time with your family and friends. Rich, Rob, Dana, and Tina Team Maine Adventure Racing Inc.
